For many years, an Allworx phone system with an on-premises phone server was used and worked well, until the box itself started failing from time to time, leaving the entire company without phone calls for hours. The system was dependent on the internet being on at the facility, the phone company providing SIP trunks, and the local network to have all the complicated firewall rules correctly set up.
It was time for a change, and the client needed to move to the cloud while keeping important features from the legacy system, such as the ability to disable voicemail for all users because the company policy is to have humans answering every customer call at the first ring, parking calls, and overhead pager capabilities across different multi-state warehouses.
After conducting a cost analysis, Microsoft Teams Voice checked all the boxes. However, some issues were soon discovered after implementation: parked calls wouldn't roll back to the initial answerer after timeout, no numeric extensions, and poor audio quality on proprietary (certified) Teams Phones. Phones joining via WiFi would disconnect suddenly without notifying users about the action needed. 😱
After months of complaints, we decided to switch to Zoom VOIP, and it's been a game-changer! 👍 With Zoom, we were able to disable voicemail easily and park calls without any complications. Plus, Zoom VOIP provided us with high-quality audio and allowed us to create numeric extensions.
